El Condor Pasa的原版据传是基于秘鲁自由战士Tupac Amaro的故事。1780年，他在领导一场反抗西班牙人的起义中被害，死后变成一只Condor，永远翱翔于安第斯山上。秘鲁人民暨此体现对自由的追求不息，而歌名的直译就是雄鹰在飞。
Paul Simon演绎的版本，可以听到排萧的演奏，给整个曲子带来高亢而飘逸的美感。就像别人所评价的，西蒙的声线并不高昂，但相当有韵味，而加冯科对和声的处理令人叫绝，与美妙的旋律配合得天衣无缝。
