创作背景

2008年乔·乔纳斯见异思迁追求女演员卡米拉·贝勒，并在电话中以创纪录27秒的时间就把斯威夫特甩了。后来被她写进《Forever & Always》中，“现在我终于明白你只是说说而已”。Joe Jonas写了一首《Much Better》（你更好）来回呛斯威夫特，指出卡米拉是自己更好的情人，因此斯威夫特把炮火对准那位横刀夺爱的女演员，也在题目和歌词中用了"Better"这个词——“Come on, show me how much better you are (让我看看你比我更好在哪儿)”。《Better Than Revenge》中写道：“她不是圣人，她不是你认为的那样完美，她只是一个演员，她在床垫上的那些事让她变得有名。”
