Northern Kings并不是一支一般的乐队，乐队四位成员分别来自四支著名的芬兰金属乐队，乐队成员有Nightwish的Marco Hietala ，Sonata Arctica的Tony Kakko，Terasbetoni的Jarkko Ahola(2004-2005年担任Dreamtale的主唱)以及Charon的J. Pekka Leppaluoto。由于四个人在之前乐队中的历练和积攒的人气让他们成为芬兰一支非常有号召力的金属乐队。

乐队于2008年和2009年分别发行了两张曲风偏向哥特金属的专辑《Reborn》和《Rethroned》，整体比较庄严华丽，加上四个人独树一帜的高音唱腔，让我们仿佛又回到了Nightwish, Sonata Arctica的时代。在翻唱的几首歌中更是体现出他们对于摇滚的超强驾驭能力，在四个人无与伦比的高音中，将听者无形中带入了哥特的氛围中。
