创作背景

1996年，在一次采访活动中，林格说起了《章鱼的花园》的创作。他说，有人曾告诉他，章鱼会在海滩上收集一些闪闪发光的东西，它们把这些东西有序地置放在自己的巢穴里。于是巢穴变得炫彩斑斓，就像美丽的花园一样。林格听后觉得这非常令人欣喜，于是有了灵感，创作了这首歌曲。
