《地黄专论(精)/四大怀药专著系列》由边宝林编著（英文版），共分7个章节，分别对鲜地黄、干地黄、熟地黄进行了药材来源，本草记载，加工炮制，化学成分，成分分析(定性、定量)，药理活性，临床研究的全面综述，在遵循原文献的原始数据基础上，对每一研究部分重新进行功能分类，以便于科研工作者的使用。论著共查阅了53篇古代本草文献，参考了262篇中英文学术论文，共撰写约50万字，是当今对中药地黄(包括：鲜、干、熟)研究的最为全面的综述。1
