In March of Nanjing, the weather is still cold. Spring rain with thunder wetted the whole city. LIU A’yi, standing there in the rain, is selling pancakes. Being so helpless and having limited choices, she managed to make a living by selling pancakes, occasionally accompanied by customers’ critical and scornful voice. Her face is full of tear. The polybag fluttered in the wind, whispering her sadness of the past.
Tao and his workmate are working on the noisy construction site. They built lots of modern building in this city but they dare not have the idea of buying an apartment on their slim salary. Now he can barely afford the rent and very likely he is going to live in the open air with his wife and kids. In the work shed ,he is talking to his wife on the phone, and sighing and grumbling is basically all he can do at the moment.
